Grants Submitted

Dr. R.K. Elswick submitted a grant application in response to the NIH Program Announcement (PAR 08-036) Shared Equipment Grant Program entitled “Research Data Storage and Computation Instrumentation”.  If funded the grant would provide the University with a Beowulf Cluster, 4 large servers and 20 Terabytes of storage space.  The proposal seeks funds to purchase computer instrumentation to enhance the computing infrastructure in the Department of Biostatistics. The requested instrumentation will enlarge the Department’s data storage capacity and will increase computing power for the analysis of high throughput data now being performed by scientists in the Department of Biostatistics and their collaborating investigators.  Collaborating investigators include investigators in the Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics, the Massy Cancer Center in the School of Medicine and the Center for Biobehavioral Clinical Research in the School of Nursing.
